In Chapter 82 of “We Solve Murders,” Bonnie’s journey to Heathrow Airport proves surprisingly swift. With her neighbor’s husband assisting her with her leather holdall, Bonnie drags her rolling suitcase behind, feeling grateful for the early arrival despite the intimidating check-in lines and security processes looming ahead. She reflects on the bittersweet farewells from her family, especially her teary-eyed mother, who only asks her to return safely.

As she waits in line, Bonnie begins to worry about the contents of her leather bag. It feels heavier than it should, and doubts twist in her mind about what could be inside—possibly something dangerous like a bomb. The thought prompts concern, but she dismisses it as paranoia. She considers reaching out to Felicity via email to ease her anxiety, composing a message that describes her situation, including the mysterious locked bag she’s been given for an unboxing video. However, she hesitates on sending it, fearing it might make her seem dramatic or provoke embarrassing laughter from Felicity and her colleagues.

Eventually, she reaches the check-in desk, where a friendly clerk inquires about her travel plans. Bonnie proudly states her trip to São Paulo is for business, which boosts her confidence. She struggles with her bags on the conveyor belt when a clerk informs her she arrived too early—her check-in isn’t until the afternoon. Despite feeling slightly foolish for her eagerness, Bonnie opts to wait at the airport café. She acknowledges the expense but maintains optimism about her early arrival.

The chapter encapsulates Bonnie’s internal monologue filled with humorous self-doubt and excitement, revealing her character’s blend of anxiety and ambition as she embarks on this new opportunity. The narrative, light-hearted yet introspective, showcases the mundanity and unpredictability of travel, punctuated by Bonnie’s relatable fears and aspirations.

With each new investigation, the team uncovers secrets, motives, and twists that keep readers on the edge of their seat. The novel explores themes of teamwork, justice, and the intricacies of solving crimes, offering a compelling look at the pursuit of truth and the consequences of uncovering hidden realities.

In Chapter 82 of “All the Colors of the Dark,” the atmosphere is lively as Patch observes a scene filled with youthful energy and social interactions. He sits on the curb with his belongings, surrounded by girls in fashionable attire and boys wearing unbuttoned shirts that expose their skin. The nearby establishments, like Hanes Jewelry and Braybart Coffee, reflect the small-town vibe as brightly colored signs flutter in the breeze. It’s a bustling evening as people, eager to make the most of their night, engage in carefree revelry.

Patch leans against a bulletin board, grappling with the invitation from Misty that weighs heavily on him—a promise to attend an event he is dreading. He clutches a small box containing a delicate snow globe, a whimsical emblem of his thoughts as he often gazes at it before sleeping. Despite costing only a dollar, he feels regret about this item’s significance.

As he navigates through a gathering near the Town Clerk’s Office, he witnesses groups of girls dancing, the atmosphere filled with cheers and laughter. However, his experience takes a turn for the worse when a group of peers snatches the box from him amidst mockery about his appearance. The playful taunts escalate into aggression as he struggles to push through the crowd, eventually finding himself on the ground, feeling the tugging of his eye patch.

In a harsh moment that silences the laughter, Patch receives his eye patch back, highlighting a fleeting sense of camaraderie. Yet soon after, the box containing the snow globe is carelessly hurled towards him, resulting in the shattering of glass and the devastating loss of his treasured item. Patch is left kneeling on the ground, feeling abandoned, and a wave of nostalgia washes over him as he longs for the comforting darkness, a yearning to be beside Grace as he reflects on the painful isolation he currently experiences.
