Mother Night
Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut tells the story of Howard W. Campbell Jr., an American playwright who becomes a Nazi propagandist during World War II, only to later claim he was working as a spy for the Allies. Narrated from his prison cell in 1961, Campbell reflects on his role in the war, grappling with his identity and the blurred lines between truth and deception. Vonnegut’s darkly comic, thought-provoking novel explores themes of morality, guilt, and the complexity of human choices, all while questioning the nature of good and evil in a world torn apart by conflict.
