Chapter 6 – The Arab Raid begins with Basuli and his fellow Waziri warriors returning to the shattered ruins left by a devastating earthquake. Initially fleeing in terror, they now seek to uncover the fate of their missing leader, Tarzan, and two of their companions. Despite their efforts to clear the passage of rubble, only one of their own is recovered, lifeless and broken. The grim discovery forces them to accept that Tarzan and the remaining warrior have perished beneath the debris. In solemn silence, they collect the gold meant for Tarzan’s wife and begin the long journey back to their homeland. Their hearts are heavy with grief, unaware that a far more immediate danger now moves toward the Greystoke estate from the north.

At the same time, Achmet Zek, an infamous raider driven by greed and conquest, leads his ruthless band of Arabs and cannibalistic allies through the jungle. Their eyes are set on the Greystoke bungalow, believing it to be filled with treasures ripe for the taking. Back at the estate, Mugambi remains behind to protect Lady Greystoke during Tarzan’s absence. His instincts sharpen as he senses the approaching threat, and he swiftly organizes the remaining Waziri to prepare for battle. Though the bungalow lacks strong defenses, the loyalty of the Waziri burns bright, and they are determined to protect Jane Clayton at any cost. Every man among them knows the odds are grim, yet none hesitate to stand in defense of their master’s wife.

The battle erupts quickly as the raiders descend, but the Waziri’s archery skills allow them to hold off the initial wave. Jane Clayton, calm under pressure, supports them by taking precise rifle shots from within the house, proving her strength and resilience in a time of crisis. However, Achmet Zek’s forces are relentless, and through calculated maneuvering, they manage to breach the bungalow’s perimeter. Chaos erupts within the walls as the two forces clash in brutal close combat. Despite their courage, the defenders begin to fall under the sheer weight of the invading force. Blood is spilled on both sides, but it becomes clear that the defense is collapsing and the raiders are gaining ground.

In the heart of this desperate battle, Mugambi remains unshaken, standing as the last barrier between Jane and the intruders. His determination does not falter, even as the enemies press in closer with every passing second. Achmet Zek, seeing Mugambi’s valiant resistance, raises his ornate musket, aiming not at Jane but at the warrior who protects her. With a flash and a thunderous crack, the weapon fires, and Mugambi is struck down, collapsing at Jane’s feet. His fall marks not only the physical breach of the bungalow but the emotional breaking point of the chapter. The moment is heartbreaking, not only for its violence but for what it symbolizes: loyalty, bravery, and ultimate sacrifice in the face of overwhelming odds.

Now defenseless, Jane Clayton faces the raiders with unwavering courage, despite knowing she can no longer resist them alone. The sight of Mugambi’s body beside her speaks volumes of the loyalty he upheld until the very end. As the raiders surround her, she remains composed, even while knowing that capture or worse may await. The chapter ends with a sense of tragic inevitability as Jane and the bungalow fall into enemy hands. Her fate now rests in the hands of ruthless men, and the strength she showed will be tested again in ways she cannot yet imagine. Through this sequence, the narrative captures the harrowing brutality of war and the heroic devotion of those who fight not for riches, but for honor and love.
