    Héc­tor Tobar is a Pulitzer Prize–winning jour­nal­ist and acclaimed nov­el­ist known for his sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions to lit­er­a­ture and jour­nal­ism. He is the author of sev­er­al notable works, includ­ing the best-sell­ing book, Deep Down Dark, which has gar­nered crit­i­cal acclaim, along with The Last Great Road Bum, The Bar­bar­ian Nurs­eries, Trans­la­tion Nation, and The Tat­tooed Sol­dier.

    In addi­tion to his nov­els, Tobar serves as a con­tribut­ing writer for the opin­ion sec­tion of The New York Times and is an asso­ciate pro­fes­sor at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Cal­i­for­nia, Irvine.
